The result assumes the stop is filled exactly at the stop price. Real losses can be larger because of slippage, gaps and execution conditions.

Example

With a $10,000 account, a hypothetical 1% risk budget equals $100. If the entry is $50.00 and the stop is $49.50, the planned risk is $0.50 per share. The arithmetic maximum is 200 shares, with an approximate position value of $10,000. That does not mean the account can or should use that size; it only demonstrates the relationship among the inputs.
